What is EDC?

Electronic data capture (EDC) is software for collecting clinical trial data electronically rather than on paper case report forms. It holds the structured data a study reports, while source records hold the original documentation of what happened at each visit.

Why connect EDC and source?

When source and study data sit in separate systems, staff have to keep them matched and monitors have to compare them. Keeping both in one platform, with one login, makes it easier to see where a data point came from and whether anything is missing.

Working with a sponsor's EDC

Many sponsors require their own EDC. PAS OneCore doesn't currently connect directly to external EDC systems. In those studies, the EDC-ready tray shows staff which complete records are waiting to be transcribed into the sponsor's system.
